Students leaving the room must have a pass. This class has two type of passes - written on paper and the floppy around the neck. Floppy disk passes must be worn around the neck. Failure to take a pass when leaving the room will result in time being assigned. How time is calculated is explained below.
The classroom passes are located at various places in the room. Several are on the door behind my desk. The hawk should have one pass.
Leaving the room to get required materials for the class will result in time being assigned.
Leaving the room to get a drink will result in time being assigned.
Restrooms are found all around the building. We will use the ones closest to my room but will result in time being assigned. The two restrooms nearest my room are found near the main entrance and the other by the A-B hall four way intersection. Of course if you don't want any time assigned, the bathroom in my room could always be used.
When getting a drink of water or using the restroom, never add additional stops or places on the trip. A pass to the restroom is a pass to the restroom. It is not a pass to the restroom and stopping by your locker. Any student that makes unscheduled stops will be grounded. Grounded students will not be permitted to leave the room until they have completed 15 minutes before/after school or 25 hawk-barks.
Calculating the time a student owes is twice the amount of time out of the classroom. The time out of the classroom is always rounded up using the ceiling function. For example if a student is out of the room for two minutes and 2 seconds it will be rounded to three minutes. Three minutes times two means the student owes six minutes before or after school.
Time assigned must be made up after school the day assigned or before or after school the next day the student is in attendance.
Failure to serve the time will result in a 30 minute detention before or after school. Failure to serve this detention will result in a referral to the office with the recommendation of a one hour detention with me.
Minutes owed may be converted into duck-barks. One minute is equal to two duck-barks. If a student owes 6 minutes, it can be converted to 12 duck-barks. Duck-barks are always completed the last ten munutes of class.
